How to Find Us and Accessibility

We would really like you to visit Great Witley Church. If you have been before we’re sure you will want to come back!

Great Witley Church lies 10 miles NW of the city of  Worcester, off the A443 road from Ombersley-Tenbury Wells just east of Great Witley Village. Our postcode is WR6 6JT, and can be found on OS Map 150 ref 769 649. Access is via an unmade private drive with a lodge house at each end. Recent improvements have been made to the drive, making the church more easily accessible.

Our what3words code is commander.sleeper.conductor

Car Parking

There is a fair amount of general car parking in the vicinity of the church and disabled parking on the churchyard. Take care that you head for Witley Church, not to be confused with Witley Court which has a separate entrance and car park administered by English Heritage. Visitors to Witley Court may use their larger car park, and then visit the Church in addition to Witley Court.

Bus Services

Yarranton’s 758 bus service connects Worcester with Tenbury Wells via Great Witley with a journey time of 23 minutes to Great Witley.  Here is the timetable for Yarranton’s 758 bus service.

Midland Red do not provide a service through Great Witley, but do connect with Worcester – their phone number is 01905 763888, and their website is www.firstmidlandred.co.uk.

If travelling by bus, please note that a rather long walk up the drive is necessary if visiting only the church. However, if you are also taking the opportunity to visit Witley Court, their entrance and newer pathways provide easier access to the church as well.

Accessibility

Disabled access by car is available right outside the Church entrance. The church is entered by two stone steps, or by a wheelchair ramp, but is level on the inside apart from the east end where there are wheelchair ramps. There are written information sheets available in several languages and also large print. Stewards are on hand to answer queries and give any help required. Portaloo facilities are available at the church during services, recitals and concerts.

The Church Garden Tearooms are accessible by car, and are nearly flat. Toilet facilities are available at the Church Tearooms including for wheelchair users. Access for large wheelchairs is available through the conservatory. The Gardens have some slopes and steps.

Refreshments

Refreshments are available in the Garden Tearooms, see their website for opening times.
